Many of the 40 million widowed women in India are treated as outcasts and burdens to their families. They are blamed for their husbands’ deaths, and are expected to mourn until they themselves die. For widows, earning a living and supporting their children can be hard, and many of them are forced into poverty or prostitution. Nobody should be treated as less of a human because of their social status or because of circumstances that aren’t up to them, and this injustice is something that needs to be addressed. Let’s use our privilege and resources to help these women gain some dignity, love, and support for their wellbeing.
Your donation will provide supplies like sewing machines, farm animals, blankets and water filters—all designed to give widows a chance to earn a steady living and have their bleak future transformed.
