So Friday I’m relaxing at home when my bestie lets me know that through the stars aligning and magical intervention, we’re getting free entrance into Ultra Music Festival. I’ve lived in Miami for a few years now and still have yet to make it out. I figured it was cause for celebration and was inspired to make stuff for the big outing.

I needed an equally badass shirt to match this fantastic adventure so naturally, I NEEDED to make a smolderingly kree-tastic Captain Marvel shirt.

2 parts creative energy from rereading Captain Marvel #11 + 1 part inspiration from fellow Carol Corps member’s kreeball talk (Cheeseburgerdanvers + Wedgex) + 2 parts staring at one of my favorite  Captain Marvel panels ever….and I came up with this :D

I cut out the stencil and painted it by hand onto a black t-shirt. I decided to flip the image and add some orange-ish kree energy to make it pop. So proud to wear this around town. I also finished off my Resident Evil/Sleigh Bells inspired vest, because who doesn’t feel like a rock ‘n roll badass in a get up like that? 

Fast forward to brunch with Alexis Krauss…getting lost in a sea of bros and neon…walking up to the main stage in time to hear Fatboy Slim play ‘Praise You’ live…hearing Calvin Harris play ‘Sweet Nothing’ as the sun was setting (fireworks and Florence Welch’s voice <3<3)…surviving the craziness that is Ultra Music Festival. 

I came, I saw, I conquered. Not sure if I’ll ever do it again but it was definitely something that I’ll never forget.

I never ‘got’ this dude until I started reading Brubaker’s run and everything just clicked. On some occasions I even liked Bucky-Cap better. Even though his outfit was all shiny like. He was more hardcore than Steve. Pfff, Brubaker’s run was good. Another one that I need to re-read some time… And I dug Cap insanely in Civil War issue 1, but you know, that’s just cause he beat up half of those capekillers (was that what they were called? The S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers), stole an F16 and then told the pilot to stop it with the potty mouth. Myea. That was cool. There’s a lot of Kris Anka in this one, though I didn’t even really look at his designs for Cap lately, guess I soaked up some of it? Sniff, he looks so good.  yeah there are definitely parts of this i immediately recognized from a few of my designs

carolcorps: drzwi-do-szafy: [progress here] I’ll tell you a secret. I got interested in her because of her hair. First. there was her faux!hawk and I though- wow, finally a heroine without flowing, waving long hair, that must be getting all the time in her way when she fights, damn, finally a heroine with a sense of style. And then I realised that she’s drawn every time with different hair. Like a real woman. And I was in love, because it’s maybe very silly thing, but it made me connect with her on this level- I love changing my hair all the time and no heroine does that. I get it. They need to be recognizable, yadda yadda, chara design. The thing is, how can you be recognizable in a sea of same long-haired, combed in half, blond mops?  And here comes Carol with ever-changing haircut. The only thing that would make me love her more is that she bitches about dark roots. Because I don’t believe that half of the girls don’t dye their hair. Seriously. (also, there’s this part where she’s not wearing a bikini, and is just generally awesome character on her own. but still, I’m shallow like this, so hair!) There also part about buying comics in Poland and possible prints, so I’m putting it under a cut. So there’s no rant if you don’t care, but please, don’t remove the cut mark, ok? Read More I just want to say… You’re awesome.
